Hopefully not just a fairytale

It all began one typical Monday, as the rest of all of them. Mary had woken up so early because lessons at the University started at 8 am every morning of that Spring Semester. But it seemed like things were going to change and the situation at home would improve. The day started as a bright opportunity to do what she had dreamt for years.

Lucy was waiting for her with the bike, just in the corner of the block. Mary and Lucy had been not just neighbors, but also best friends since their parents met each other when they went to Kindergarten yet. And, when both of them had to choose the field of knowledge or degree to study, Mary and Lucy decided the same option. Their dream was to become teachers.

“What the hell are you doing, Mary?” said Lucy. She was wearing her headphones and listening to one of the songs she like most when, suddenly, she saw how Mary was approaching her, shouting and showing a face of happiness. “Lucy, you are not going to believe me, but I get it. I have found this!” announced Mary, while she gave Lucy a little piece of paper like a treasure.

Time flies, and this is something that everyone knows very well. When you are about to end the period of life in which you are a student, you just have one question rounded your mind: and now, what? But, in this sense, it was easy to answer this statement for Mary and Lucy since that sunny Monday. Two months after finishing their studies, these two best friends started to package every memory they had. The volunteer who was distributing advertisements about an NGO, made their future change completely.

Nowadays, Mary and Lucy are two young educators in a Sahara refugee camp. They had never wanted to become just conventional teachers…
